Wichita trees in Central Texas are loaded and in the last 10 days the limbs are starting to show it. The trees are starting to look like "willow trees." There has been very little scab this year, no pecan nut casebearer, essentially no aphids (yet) and the trees are healthy looking. If there is anything I notice is the possible lack of nitrogen as trees fill nuts and draw nutrients from leaves.
Here you can see the pecan nut progress. The top two halves are Pawnee and they are definitely in the dough stage. Possibly some will be ready to harvest in 3 weeks! The bottom two halves are Wichita and they are still in the water stage with slight gel forming along the cavity edges.
